The Life We’re Building (One Messy, Beautiful Day at a Time)

Building a Life I LoveOne imperfect step at a time.

The Dream Is Already Happening
You just might not recognize it yet. There was a time when I believed life would finally feel "right" once everything fell into place.
Once I had the perfect job.
The perfect house.
The perfect schedule.
The perfect savings account.
The perfect business.
The perfect version of myself.
I thought happiness was waiting somewhere in the future, just beyond the next goal.
If I could just get there…
Then I'd finally feel successful.
Then I'd finally relax.
Then I'd finally enjoy the life I had worked so hard to build.
But life has a funny way of teaching us that there really isn't a finish line.
Every season brings another dream.
Another challenge.
Another opportunity to grow.
And somewhere along the way, I realized something that completely changed the way I look at my life.
The dream isn't waiting for me someday.
It's quietly unfolding right now.
Not in big, dramatic moments.
But in ordinary Tuesday afternoons.
It's in setting up tables before an art class and watching strangers become friends over paint and conversation.
It's in helping children discover they can create something they never thought possible.
It's in watering flowers before work and noticing the first bloom that almost opened overnight. It's in laughing with my family around the dinner table. It's in my dog Oliver curling up beside me after a long day. It's in finding the perfect yellow chair after what felt like an endless search.
It's in watching the sunset and remembering that some of life's most beautiful things ask nothing of us except that we slow down enough to notice them.

None of these moments feel extraordinary while they're happening.
But together...
They are becoming the life I used to dream about.
I've spent so much time worrying that I'm behind.
That I should have accomplished more by now.
That I should already know exactly where my career is headed.
That I should have a five-year plan.
The truth?
Most people are figuring it out as they go.
We just don't talk about that part very often.
Instead, life usually looks something like this:
You try something.
It doesn't quite work.
You learn.
You adjust.
You try again.
Sometimes you succeed.
Sometimes you completely change directions.
Sometimes you surprise yourself.
And every once in a while, you look back and realize all those little steps weren't random at all.
They were quietly leading you somewhere beautiful.
I've learned that growth rarely looks impressive in the moment.
It's made up of tiny decisions that no one applauds.
Showing up.
Trying again.
Choosing hope over fear.
Creating even when you're tired.
Believing in something before you have proof it's going to work.
Those little choices have a way of adding up.
Maybe that's why I love yellow so much.
Yellow isn't loud because it has to prove anything.
It simply shines.
It reminds me that warmth doesn't have to demand attention to make a difference.
I want my life to feel like that.
Not perfect.
Not polished.
Just warm.
Welcoming.
Creative.
Hopeful.
Full of people I love and work that matters.
So if you're waiting until everything is figured out before you start living...
This is your reminder.
You don't need a perfect plan.
You don't need all the answers.
You don't need permission.
You just need the courage to take the next small step.
Because one day you'll look around and realize something incredible.
The life you were waiting for...
Was quietly being built all along.

💛 Reflection
What small moment in your life today might actually be part of the dream you've been working toward?
Sometimes the most beautiful chapters don't begin with a giant leap.
Sometimes they begin with an ordinary day—and the decision to notice the beauty that's already there.

Spring is in the Air

I can not wait for spring this year! Although I sit looking out at the snow, I am anticipating the warm weather and bright colors. After months of dull landscapes, pops of color start to emerge, reminding us that light and warmth will always return. I look forward to bringing out the decor representing new life. As a lover of yellow, this is definitely one of my favorite times to decorate with bright colors. Using faux florals and greenery, you can bring the outdoors in.
Another part of spring I look forward to is spring cleaning out the old and renewing my living space. I move from room to room clearing out the things that do not bring me joy, are broken or worn out, or just taking up space.
I have several DIY projects in store that I can't wait to share with you. The best time to start projects when you are able to move from the indoors out without traipsing in mud and snow.  You are able to open the windows and let the fresh air in.
The one thing you can always count on is the cycles of life. As we cycle into a warmer season, days grow longer, and new life peeks through the thawing ground, I still my heart and am hopeful for what's to come...

After the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season the world seems to slow down. We have spent the last 3 months planning and organizing. I don't know about you, but the thought of taking down the Christmas decorations that took me days to put up and arrange, is exhausting and some what of a let down! You don't have to start all over. For this reason, I leave up many decorations through January. This makes the process a little more manageable while still decorating for the winter season. Here are a few ways to have a cozy winter home. Click on the link to read more.
