Christmas Decorations Throughout the Home

Christmas is the best time of year. No matter what your style is it doesn't have to cost a lot every year. As soon as Thanksgiving is over and the weather turns colder it is time to take down the fall decorations and prepare for Christmas. Through the years I have accumulated quite the collection of Christmas decor whether from collecting it myself, "hand me ups" (vs "downs" as I like to call them),  or family heirlooms passed down. Now that I am getting older I try not to collect more decor. Instead every year I choose only the most love pieces. Sometimes they are placed in the same positions throughout the house and others I just use old pieces in new ways. Either way, I make sure not to spend extra money when Christmas is already so expensive. Sometime in the last couple of years I took to collecting little white light up houses. These I display in a conspicuous place in which everyone can see them as they enter the house. Glass jars filled with trees create a miniature winter wonderland. Free printables found on Pinterest and placed behind the panes of a vintage window can be changed out with the season at virtually no cost but to print them. Find the free printable I used here.

Design on a Dime

My mother-in-law came across some little figurines at Salvation Army in which I purchased wine glasses at the Dollar Tree and turned them upside down and placed the figurines on a canning jar tin lid under them to make candle pillars. The candles were also purchased at the Dollar Tree.
A tin platter purchased at Dollar Tree and painted with chalkboard paint adds to any decor . You can then write your favorite quote or greeting to create a sophisticated look.
